The New York State Office of General Services said it has chosen local companies – IBM (C’mon, even IBM has to live somewhere) Nynex Corp, Eastern Microwave Inc for implementation of a $180m Empire Net custom digital voice and data network to link all state agencies: the lawmakers up there in Albany look for the system to reduce operating costs for the good burghers of the Empire State by $150m over the five-year life of the contract.
