Lotus Development Corp last week showed late beta code of its Approach 97 desktop database for Windows NT and Windows95, due to ship next month, that can hook directly into IBM Corp’s DB2, and is touting it as a desktop client for DB2 access, much as Microsoft Corp pushes Access as the client for SQL Server. Approach will ship both standalone and bundled into the Lotus SmartSuite 97 editor for Win95, also due in January.
