Miami, Florida-based telecommunications infrastructure firm MasTec Inc is closed for business today as it mourns the loss of its founder, chairman and chief executive, Jorge Mas Canosa. Mr Canosa, a Cuban exile, founded and ran Church & Tower, the precursor to MasTec, and in 1994 established MasTec to design and build an international telecommunications infrastructure and offer associated services. According to his employees and colleagues, Jorge Mas Canosa was a man of indefatigable drive and energy, and as well as driving and inspiring his business, he also fought tirelessly for freedom from oppression in Cuba.
