Memorex Telex (UK) Ltd reports that lack of an adequately fast tape drive for the new IBM AS/400 is irking customers for the new machine, and has persuaded it to bring forward its effort to interface its 125 inch per second and 780K-byte per second 326X drive to the new machine. The drive is currently offered for the System 38 and the 4300 family, and is compatible with the IBM 3422. Normally the company waits for IBM to introduce a product before offering an alternative.
