MetaMatrix Inc has launched new software that makes relational and file-base data look like XML schema-compliant Web services that can be subsequently used for building service oriented architecture (SOA) applications.
The Waltham, Massachusetts-based company says its Dimension software goes beyond simply wrapping up a data source with a Web service interface. Rather it forwards a model-driven approach to visually, design and execute higher-level data services that take into account semantic mediation and performance optimization and adhere to SOAP Web services standards.
At runtime MetaMatrix Dimension optimizes data access and provides a Web service interface though which applications can exchange data in XML format, company officials said in a statement.
Dimension is part of MetaMatrix’s new Enterprise 5 system, which comes with improved usability, performance and data connectivity.
