Metaphor Computer Systems Inc, the Mountain View, California company where IBM took a minority stake for the sake of its graphical user interface technology, has come up with a co processor and software that turns an AT-alike into a workstation able to access its Data Interpretation System. The Workstation 2XP, attacked to the Metaphor system, enables AT users to access multiple, independent databases; analysf and interpret the data; and present recommendations and communicate findings. The Metaphor system is effectively an easier-to-use answer to IBM’s Information Centre concept. It’s $2,100 with 2Mb CPU, Ethernet interface, multisync colour VDU, mouse, cables and program.
