Enables deployment of WLAN access points, IP security cameras and VoIP phones
Microsemi, a manufacturer of analog/mixed signal integrated circuits and semiconductors, has unveiled PowerDsine PD3501 and PD3501G, a single port Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) midspans that feature lower power consumption in both no-load and load conditions.
The company said that the new single port midspans offer IEEE 802.3af compliant offerings for remotely powering wireless LAN access points, IP security cameras, VoIP phones, access control systems and other low port density installations.
The new midspans enable delivery of both data and power over a single standard RJ-45 cable, eliminating the need for external power supplies and their associated AC/DC power cabling, while providing power over existing ethernet infrastructures, the company said.
The PD3501 PoE Midspan can power 10/100 baseT network devices while the PD3501G targets emerging gigabit devices such as wireless IEEE 802.11n access points and wireless WiMax access points.
According to Microsemi, the new midspans features include, powering of pre-standard devices including Cisco, 10/100/1000-BaseT support, minimal internal power consumption, EMI Class B, shielded RJ-45 connectors, concise LED visibility from both units front and top, and compact design.
