A joint venture between business services company Mouchel Parkman Plc and business process outsourcing provider Hyder Business Services Ltd has been named preferred bidder for a deal with Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council.
Under the terms of the deal, valued at 260m pounds ($478.7m) over 10 years, the joint venture will assist the council in delivering highways, property, customer, exchequer, and IT services. The JV, known as the Unity Partnership, will be supported by IT services vendor Agilisys.
West Byfleet, UK-based Mouchel Parkman specializes in providing a full range of support services to public-sector clients, including managing property, water, education, and waste services.
There is a growing overlap in the UK between professional services firms and IT services companies, particularly in the public sector. In 2005, for example, business support services vendor Serco acquired two IT services providers, IT Net and RCI.
