Electronic commerce specialist MPACT Immedia Corp is embarking on a $1.2m project that will see the Montreal, Canada company produce a secure smart card system for the internet. The company will work with the Bank of Canada to link Immedia’s internet payment product, BuyWay to the Mondex smart card system (CI No 3,167). The system will also accept credit cards with secure electronic transaction, and electronic checks. Funding for the project has come from CANARIE, a consortium of organizations committed to developing Canada’s communications infrastructure.
