AT&T Co duly introduced its new 3B2 Model 1000 and cut prices on other 3Bs (CI No 1,136). The 1000 model 60 supports 64 simultaneous users, model 70 supports 80 users, the 80 over 100. The configuration model 80 is rated at 9.0 MIPS, with more processors it goes to 16.0 MIPS. All come with Unix System V.3.2.2, enhanced to provide remote maintenance support and multiprocessing – a new adaptive scheduling algorithm balances system and user workloads across individual processors. Prices on the 3B2-500, 600 and 700 were cut by 12% to 30%, on 80386-based 6386 WGS and 6386E 9% to 28%.
