US insurer Mutual of Omaha has announced that is has begun streamlining and integrating its IT practices using tools from BMC Software.
BMC Software’s infrastructure management tool gives systems programmers a complete view of their company’s IT infrastructure and respective environments. As a result, when customers call IT with a problem, in many cases the programmers are already aware of the issue and working on a resolution.
Mutual says that the software has already helped it realize significant cost savings, having reduced database downtime by 66%, backup times by 50% and customer-impact problem tickets by 70%.
Eric Schuman, a Mutual of Omaha senior systems programmer, said, By using a single solution versus many, we were able to replace several vendor products, resulting in substantial savings, improved capacity management, increased efficiency and significant cost avoidance.
