NEC Corp’s chip production in the first half of this fiscal year fell 4.0% against the year-earlier period to $4.8bn, senior executive vice-president Hajime Sasaki said, adding that the value of its chip production would drop 6.0% to $10bn in the year to March 1997. He said prices of 16M-bit memory chips had stabilized and that a large fall was unlikely in the January-to-March quarter, despite analysts’ forecasts that the market could fall after the traditional spurt for the Christmas season.
