NEC Corp has received ISO9001 ratification from a Japanese standards body, the Japan Quality Assurance Organisation, for its design, production, inspection and after-service of its thin-film transistor-liquid crystal diode display panels: its plant at Kagoshima in Kyushu won ISO90002 ratification in November 1993 – the new thin-film transistor line in Kagoshima began operation in December 1993 and a second line is expected to open soon; production there has already been doubled to 80,000 screens a month from 40,000.
