Not waiting for the result of the inquiry launched at the request of Motorola Inc by the EEC Commission into alleged dumping of cellular telephones in the UK by Japanese and Canadian manufacturers (CI No 727), NEC Corp, whose claim that it has sold 50,000 mobile phones in the UK would give it around 25% of the market, has announced that it will start manufacturing cellular telephones at its Telford, Shropshire base next summer: it will start at 3,000 to 4,000 a month.
