Novell Inc said today that it to start reselling the Sanctuary end-point security package produced by intrusion-protection software house SecureWave SA for use alongside the Novell ZENworks resource management system.
The Sanctuary application is used to enforce security policies for the acceptable use of removable storage devices and will monitor every USB port on a network to stop any unauthorized activity.
Dennis Szerszen, VP of SecureWave, said the company had spent part of the year working on the product to enable its use with Novell’s eDirectory system. Both companies have the same philosophy on resource management in that it needs to be directory-based and identity driven so that policies can be easily applied across different sets of user group or device groups, he said.
SecureWave claims 1,300 businesses currently use its products to secure end points, and expects that number to increase sharply as its products become available across Novell’s 5,000 reseller partners.
