Compagnie des Machines Bull SA is now buying in rather than making more and more of its key technology, and after its deal with Data General Corp for the CLARiiON arrays for use with its Unix machines – bought in from IBM Corp – it immediately announced a three-year OEM pact, estimated to be worth $45m, with EMC Corp, Hopkinton, Massachusetts under which Bull gets exclusive marketing rights to EMC’s Symmetrix 4800 series of Integrated Cached Disk Array storage products for GCOS 8 mainframe computers.
