Making it clear that there is no hope of averting a bitter price war in the Japanese personal computer market, number three vendor Seiko Epson Corp has announced a range of low-priced machines: the PC-486 P desktop models start at $1,600 and have performance similar to that of its PC-486 GR, which costs $2,225; Epson expects to shift 60,000 of the new machines in the first year.
