Pace Micro Technology Plc, the Shipley, UK company that wilted under the extravagant expectations of television set-top box decoders orders from Rupert Murdoch and his cohorts that have still to materialize, now has another string to its bow. It is to become the third company after Philips Electronics NV and Sony Corp to manufacture the decoders for WebTV Networks Inc’s television Internet service, to go on trial in the UK before year-end. WebTV agreed to sell out to Microsoft Corp earlier this month for $425m in cash and shares.
