Features mobile hotspot app that provides customers with option of creating personal Wi-Fi cloud
Palm is planning to sell the new Pre Plus and Pixi Plus through Verizon Wireless later this month. The new handsets come with mobile hotspot, a webOS app that gives customers the option of creating a personal Wi-Fi cloud capable of sharing Verizon Wireless 3G network with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
The new Pre Plus comes with vivid touch screen, high-performance processor, and slide-out keyboard. It features Touchstone Back Cover and Verizon Wireless Pre Plus customers will get 16GB of storage for applications and media, 3.0 megapixel camera with LED flash, slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It weighs around 4.89 ounces and measures 2.35 x 3.96 x 0.67. The new Pixi Plus features 2.0 megapixel camera with LED flash, fixed QWERTY keyboard, weighs 3.26 ounces and measures 2.17 x 4.37 x 0.43.
Both the smartphones feature webOS that allows customers to run multiple applications simultaneously and provides software updates delivered automatically to devices; Palm Synergy, which brings customers’ information from places it resides; notifications and universal search; Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g; integrated GPS; VZ Navigator; charger/microUSB connector with USB 2.0 hi-speed; and bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP stereo bluetooth support.
In addition, the smartphones also feature a proximity sensor that automatically disables the touch screen and turns off the display; light sensor; accelerometer that automatically orients web pages and photos; ringer switch; and multimedia options, including pictures, video playback and music as well as a camera with LED flash and a 3.5 mm headset jack.
