Peripheral Components International, a division of Control Data Corp’s Data Storage Products Group, is expanding manufacturing capacity on its rigid disk thin film recording heads to meet increased demand from OEM drive manufacturers: this will mean a second shift, increased use of a clean room and machining equipment at a fabrication facility in Edina, Minnesota, along with expanded head assembly operations in Aberdeen, South Dakota and Hong Kong enabling production to raise from 5m at present to 7m by the end of 1988; the CDC unit supplies head and media components worldwide under the PulseStar brand name.
