Barely one year since introducing its first products, Philips Consumer Communications NV claims to have already captured third place among cellular handset manufacturers in France, says a report in Les Echos. The company, which inaugurated its worldwide manufacturing center at Le Mans early last year, says it has 14% of the French market, placing it ahead of Nokia Oy. Europe-wide, Philips says it ties for fourth place, with Siemens AG. The site at LeMans is expected to produce 4 million units this year.
