The A2000 cable television operator joint venture of Philips Electronics NV and US West International Inc in the Netherlands has won a license to offer telephone services. A2000, which has around 525,000 cable subscribers in the Amsterdam and Hilversum areas, said it would invest around $150m in the next few years to prepare the cable network for telephone and Internet services. A2000 has also reached agreement with Koninklijke PTT Telecom Nederland NV over interconnection between the networks.
