The PC Week gossip column has picked up the suggestion that Platinum Technologies Inc may soon be the subject of a deal. We reported (CI No 3,089) that the name in the frame is Computer Associates International Inc. PC Week says its corridor spies in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois report that president and chief executive Andrew Filipowski is shopping around for a buyer. They say the company has extended an internal hiring freeze to further departments, while adding 500 sales staffers worldwide, and is demanding doubled revenue from the rest of the organization.
