maxCache 2.0 SSD accelerates the data centre and cloud computing application performance
Semiconductors company PMC has introduced Adaptec Series 6Q with maxCache 2.0 SSD caching to accelerate data center and cloud computing application performance.
maxCache 2.0 uses solid state drives (SSDs) to cache frequently accessed data, it employs a learned-path algorithm to improve performance of HDD-based arrays and supports write caching to expand the application workloads that can benefit from this technology.
The Series 6Q withmaxCache 2.0 is a patented supercap backup offering, Zero Maintenance Cache Protection.
The Series 6Q with maxCache 2.0 improves quality of service, offers up to 13 times improvement in I/O operations per second (IOPS), a 13 times reduction in application latency and allows data centers to perform more transactions with a single server and reduce the overall number of servers required.
In addition, the Series 6Q with maxCache 2.0 eliminates the maintenance and environmental costs of lithium ion battery-based offerings promoting Green IT.
PMC is also releasing the Series 6T RAID controllers with recessed top-mounted connectors to enable maximum installation flexibility in dense form-factor servers found in data center applications.
PMC Channel Storage Division vice-president and general manager Jared Peters said data centres have multi-faceted needs that PMC addresses through its offerings and ability to work with customers to optimise PMC’s products in customer’s environment for their application.
