The Japanese virtual pet, Tamagotchi is creating a stir in its native land, prompting a spate of police raids on companies selling the fake electronic buddies. Makers Bandai Co Ltd are struggling to keep up with demand for the toys and is seeing an increasing number of counterfeit toys known as Tamago, that come in the form of watches. The companies raided were Tokyo Biken, KDY and Eiko.
