Toshiba Corp has trimmed its fiscal 1997 forecast for personal computer shipments worldwide to 3.7 million, down 300,000 from the original projection. The company says severe price competition in the US, where it hoped to ship half of the original 4 million forecast, is largely responsible for the revised estimate. NEC Corp projects PC shipments this fiscal year to hit 4.07 million units while Fujitsu Ltd forecasts shipments of 3.8 million.
