Prime Computer Inc is set to announce new high-end additions to its EXL line of 80386-based workstation line at the firm’s forthcoming Prime Time exhibition at Olympia, London, April 19 to 21. The Unix systems will be available from the third quarter, while Prime expects additional Unix System V.4 offerings to be announced by the end of the year. Future releases are likely to include technology brought in from elsewhere, but Prime says it will not buy complete systems OEM. Unix development has not after all been shifted to its workstation division: there are now three streams of development at Prime’s Natick, Massachusetts headquarters – for PrimeOS, for Unix, and for workstations.
