Proteon Inc has set up OpenRoute Networks Inc – a wholly owned subsidiary, also headquartered in Westboro, Massachusetts – to develop, market and distribute the company’s GlobeTrotter remote access router products. According to the company, the name OpenRoute Networks reflects its emphasis on the remote access market. It said that during a transition period it would be using the OpenRoute Networks/Proteon name. OpenRoute Networks’ GlobeTrotter routers provide support for various Wide Area Network services including leased-line, dial-up, ISDN, and Frame Relay networks. Proteon will continue to market adapter cards, hubs, switches, and switch-router products.
