Racal-Milgo Ltd is claiming to be the first private contractor to win a data communications network deal with a Swedish bank, having won an agreement with the country’s Forsta Sparbanken. The contract, initially worth around UKP120,000, was won through Racal-Milgo’s Swedish distributor Lagercrantz Communications AB. The first phase of the contract covers 55 branches in the west of Sweden, and Racal hopes to supply the bank’s extension to the network, which will encompass 75 further branches in the Stockholm area. The network comprises a digital backbone, based on Racal-Milgo’s CMS300 networking system, along with multi-drop modem links connected to each of three main nodes. It will be operated by the bank’s computer services subsidiary Forsta Sparbanken.
