Racal Electronics Plc has thrown in the towel on its shrunken Racal-Redac Group computer-aided design and engineering systems business, and has sold it to Japanese circuit-board and multichip module design software developer and distributor Zuken Inc for #13m. Redac will become the Zuken-Redac subsidiary of Zuken; according to Racal, the business has been restored to profitability and the gain on the sale will more than offset any goodwill write-off. Racal also reported a #15m contract for Racal Network Services to provide a local network interconnect service linking UK Customs & Excise sites. Figures p7
