A class action lawsuit has been filed against Rational Software Corp by shareholders who bought company stock on October 8, 1997. The suit alleges the company violated Federal Security laws by passing on inside information that led to the dumping of stock by shareholders who were informed by Cowen & Co Inc. The company saw its shares plunge by some 30% towards the end of last month as rival visual modeling software was due for release by Oracle Corp (CI No 3,254).
