IBM Corp is not the only company working on Spin Valve Giant Magnetoresistive Effect recording heads. Milpitas, California- based Read-Rite Corp, says it has now fabricated and demonstrated the performance of a narrow track high density read-only Spin Valve magnetoresistive recording head, which demonstrated usable signals at recording density of 4.2Gb on a 3.5 disk platter. It is working on advanced designs for over 7Gb on a 3.5 disk platter.
