Research in Motion Ltd yesterday said the US Patent and Trademark Office had issued a non-final rejection of another patent held by NTP Inc, which is suing the BlackBerry maker for alleged patent infringement.
The patent office had issued non-final rejections for the four previous contested NTP patents.
Waterloo, Ontario-based RIM still faces a court hearing in the case later this month, in which NTP has asked for an injunction of BlackBerry service in the US.
US-based patent house NTP has 30 days to respond to the most recent rejection of it patent by the patent office, said RIM, in a statement.
