There are few companies in the robot business that have not suffered bitter disappointment as the market failed to take off as forecast over the past three or four years, and the main players are now casting around for means to defray costs and drive their existing product lines as hard as they can: the GMF Robotics Corp joint venture between General Motors Corp and Fanuc Ltd of Japan has signed marketing rights to its painting robots over to the DeVilbiss Co unit of Champion Spark Plug Co for six years.
