SAP AG has licensed content publishing technology from San Francisco-based Xythos Software Inc to enhance content access and integration between Windows desktops and its NetWeaver Portal application.
Xythos’ Drive technology has been embedded as an OEM and renamed Portal Drive by SAP. The software allows any Windows-based application to access NetWeaver Portal managed content. All SAP NetWeaver Portal content appears as standard Windows files and folders which are securely accessible over the web.
The software also lets users SAP NetWeaver Portal content in an offline manner using Portal Drive’s synchronization features. The key benefit of this OEM, according to SAP officials, is that it lets users of Windows desktop applications to create, manage and share content without changing their existing behavior.
