Rather than moan that Internetties are eating up all its bandwidth, San Antonio, Texas-based SBC Communications Inc has gone to Northern Telecom Ltd for a system that recognizes and siphons off Internet traffic and routes it to a new high speed network. Called Internet/Intranet Transport Service, the system will cost SBC less than $100m and will be marketed under the Southwestern Bell name to Internet service providers.
