SCI Systems Inc, Huntsville, Alabama has won a $162m multi-year contract from McDonnell Douglas Corp’s McDonnell Douglas Helicopter unit under which it will supply the main system computers, the weapons computers and the digital inter- communications systems for the upgrade of 343 AH-64A Apache aircraft to the AH-64D configuration for the US Army and for 93 new AH-64D aircraft for the UK and the Netherlands. The contract has a potential value of over $500m when the total US Army fleet upgrade and further foreign sales are considered, SCI noted.
