Semtech Corp, Newbury Park, California has bought Polycore Electronics Inc, formed in 1975 as a private California silicon foundry and custom die design business using bipolar and CMOS metal gate technologies, for an undisclosed sum: its facilities, equipment and processes have been upgraded to meet the requirements of MIL-S-38510 and MIL-S-833B for integrated circuits, and MIL-S-19500 and MIL-S-750 for discrete semiconductor components, so it’s not too surprising that a substantial portion of Polycore’s business is aimed at military customers, says Semtech, which will operate it as a wholly-owned subsidiary under its founder.
