Seymour Rubinstein, founder and eminence grise behind WordStar International Inc, now of Novato, California is having one last throw to dig the company out of the deep hole into which it has sunk over the past five years: he has appointed Ronald Posner as chief executive officer in what is described as an initial step leading to future changes in the management of the company and its products – Ron has an excellent track record in building and revitalising software companies over the past seven years as a senior executive manager at eter Norton Computing, Ansa Software Inc and Ashton-Tate Corp, said WordStar; Posner responded by saying WordStar is in the word-processing business to stay – it has the potential to become a leading software company again, due to its existing worldwide distribution and name recognition, its leading position in international markets, its large installed base and its loyal, enthusiastic staff; the firm also plans to buy in up to 1m of its shares in the open market.
