Fremont, California-based Sigma Designs has licensed its ReelMagic MPEG playback technology to Midori Electronics Co Ltd of Japan and Oksori Co Ltd of Korea. Midori Electronics will custom design an add-in board for NEC PC-9800 series systems, using key ReelMagic technology and components. The new product, ViewMagic 98, will be manufactured by Sigma Designs and available to Midori Electronics in June for distribution in the Japanese market. In addition, Oksori plans to customise Sigma Designs’ ReelMagic controller for the Korean market, bundle it with Korean software titles and distribute it in the Korean market.
