@bundeskanzlerin has attracted many nasty comments in Russian.
German chancellor Angela Merkel’s Instagram has been filled with hostile and critical comments from Russian trolls criticising her every move.
Merkel joined Instagram in early June and until now, 60 posts have been added and the account has more than 41,800 followers.
Most of the critical comments are in Russian, which criticizes her but praises Russian President Vladimir Putin.
However, it has not yet been determined whether the comments are a part of a co-ordinated campaign or posted by genuine people and activists.
The incident has surfaced at a time when Radio Free Europe and the New York Times have exposed that Russia is home to at least one "troll factory" that promotes pro-Kremlin propaganda through social media sites.
The comments to her account @bundeskanzlerin started coming in as soon as the first photo was uploaded, and it continued.
In some cases, a user compared an image to Hitler in his bunker during the closing days of World War II , reported BBC.
Even images where Merkel posed with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko were not spared by the cyber bullies who made abusive comments.
However, an Image featuring Vladimir Putin attracted positive comments which praised the president.
