Online retail still disappoints two-thirds of shoppers


Only 37 percent of shoppers are satisfied with their ecommerce experience, according to new research by Dyn.

Shoppers particularly lack confidence in mobile shopping, with 40 percent of UK consumers believing that mobile shopping is less convenient and quick than on a computer. This may explain why 36 percent of Brits said they did not plan to make any purchases from mobile devices this year.

The survey had some wisdom to offer, with 56 percent of UK shoppers believing that the e-commerce experience should offer the same quality of experience across all different channels.

Paul Heywood, MD EMEA, Dyn commented: "If new ways to shop are hassle-free, secure and fast then consumers will be willing to try them.

"The introduction of "Buy Now" buttons by Twitter and Facebook are a good examples of brands tapping into new technologies to make shopping easier and more instantaneous."

An additional 45 percent of those surveyed claimed that they would be willing to buy a product directly through social media using a "Buy Now" button.

Heywood added: "These survey results prove that consumers are willing to spend their money with retailers who provide the best online experience, regardless of where they are geographically located."

"For retailers this is an unbelievable opportunity to penetrate new markets, but to succeed they must ensure that they offer the same quality experience for shoppers, whether they are shopping online, on mobile or in store, as well as offer a fast and easy to use service."

Dyn’s research surveyed 1400 consumers from 11 countries.
