Sony is providing video podcast support for its PlayStation Portable thanks to a new firmware update. The updated console is now at version 2.80, and can receive video clips via RSS feeds found on blogs and other websites.
The PSP console is also now compatible with the .3gp audio format used by some mobile phones. A further update is expected by the end of the year in the form of VoIP telephony capabilities. Users can download the updates via the PSP’s ‘network update’ feature.
In other Sony news, the firm has launched a free WiFi-based, PSP downloads service, which includes game demos, music tracks and movie trailers. Participating UK Game stores will be offering the download content.
