Sony Corp has firmed up its plans for that chip plant in Thailand, saying that although it will initially move into the building vacated by AMD (Thailand) Ltd, it will start building a plant of its own next year, investing $20m in the project in total; Sony Semiconductor (Thailand) Co will be capitalised at $4.5m and plans to produce 10m a month of a variety of parts.
