London-based Star Tek Ltd has announced what is claimed to be the first hand-held network analyser capable of analysing packet data for both Token Ring and Ethernet local networks. Called the FrameScope 802, the product is claimed to measure statistics including utilisation, traffic breakdown by station, protocol or errors, as well as a breakdown of these by error type and station. Due to ship this month, the FrameScope 802 has no firm price, but is expected to cost around UKP3,500.
