IT services provider Steria SA said that spending on IT services in Europe returned to growth in the first half of 2004, as it announced a slight improvement in sales and profits during the period.
In the six months to June 30, 2004, the Paris, France-based company increased net profit 9% to 8.7m euros ($10.7bn) on revenue that grew 1% to 483.4m euros ($592m).
Steria’s profits were boosted by the sale of a product-related business in Switzerland and a recovery in the performance of its French operation. The company ended June with an order book of 578m euros ($708m).
Although the company said that pricing pressure within the European IT services market remained significant, it expects slight growth in revenue during the full-year. It also said that it was considering acquisitions in Germany to help consolidate its position as one of the 10 largest vendors in Europe.
