STET SpA, Italian state-owned telecommunications holding company, has bought a small privately-held Turin company, AET SpA, which employs 1,500 and did $115m last year making electronic machinery and doing engineering work for telephone installations: terms were not disclosed, but 40% of the shares will pass to its Italtel SpA subsidiary, 40% to network engineer Sirti SpA, the balance to be sold to Pirelli SpA.
