Sumitomo Metals has taken a 10% stake in Osaka-based software company Air Corp to assist it in the development of Unix-based applications: Sumitomo Metals entered the computer market by becoming a distributor of the Prime Computer Inc EXL Unix workstations, and the two companies plan to set up a software development company, to be called Twin Sun Inc, in the US, with the aim of doing $2m a year there within three years; this year they hope to bring out a Japanese language version of Hunter Systems’ X-DOS, which supports MS-DOS applications on Unix stations.
