German post and telecommunications employers have sought a court injunction force striking employees back to work as more than 8,000 postal workers in 81 cities staged warning strikes: the postal workers’ union Deutsche Postgewerkschaft has threatened to expand the strike action unless employers give in to union pay demands and gave guarantees on benefits ahead of privatisation; employers alleged the strike had caused millions of dollars in damages and that more than 63m letters had piled up in post offices around the country.
