Sun Microsystems Inc successfully blasted its way through the billion dollar barrier for its fiscal 1988 – see Company Results – turning in sales for the year of $1,050m, and fourth quarter earnings per share at 66 cents much better than the 41 cents to 53 cents analysts had been expecting: the company also vastly improved sales per employee, which hit a healthy $150,000 on the nail.
